Nikola Lekic, MD, has been a part of South Florida Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine since 2020. He is a hand and upper extremity specialist.
Nikola Lekic, MD is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon and fellowship-trained Hand and Upper Extremity specialist. Dr. Lekic graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed orthopaedic surgery residency at University of Miami. He received additional fellowship training to specialize in adult and pediatric hand, upper extremity, and microvascular surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX with both Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Lekic’s training with Plastic Surgeons provided him the expertise of small incisions, aesthetic wound closures, and understanding and managing complex soft tissue problems.
Dr. Lekic treats adults and children. His areas of Hand & Upper Extremity expertise include:
- Small incisions, minimally invasive, aesthetic hand surgery, and soft tissue reconstruction
- Arthroscopy
- Fractures, dislocations, instability, ligament and tendon injuries
- Microvascular surgery (nerve, artery, and vein disorders)

Dr. Lekic’s practice focuses on patient-centered care and shared decision making. Surgery is not always the best option and many conditions are better treated with bracing and physical therapy. These choices are to be discussed in a patient, thoughtful, and caring manner to decide upon a surgical or non-surgical treatment plan together. Dr. Lekic is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and American Association for Hand Surgery.
